The Brave BuddiesSM 2012 summer program is a one-week intensive evidence-based treatment program designed to prepare children with selective mutism (SM) for school. Using a simulated classroom, the program offers ample opportunity for the positive practice of "brave talking," or verbal participation.

Directed by Dr. Steven Kurtz, Brave Buddies was developed from a wealth of research and clinical experience confirming that intensive behavioral interventions in both simulated and real-life situations are very effective in treating SM in young children. In addition, gains made by children in this intensive program occur at a dramatically faster rate than in traditional weekly treatment sessions.
